The story
When Joseph governed Egypt he settled his father and his brothers in the best of the land, the land of Rameses in Goshen. Long after, a king who did not know Joseph put their children to hard labour and made them build the store city of Raamses.
It was from Rameses that Israel set out on the night of the Passover, a great company on foot, leaving behind the land of their bondage. So the city of their slavery became the starting line of the Exodus.
